West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin—aware of the growing need for healthcare and specifically Medicaid expertise—requested development of educational opportunities to grow this specialized knowledge base. With his vision and the financial support of community college grant funds, Medicaid subject matter experts from industry and the State of West Virginia formed a unique public/private partnership with the West Virginia Community and Technical College System (CTCS) Office for Workforce and Technical Program Development.

 

This partnership team worked diligently to create a college-based online Medicaid curriculum –the first of its kind— and the initial phase of courses are now available. These online courses will provide students the ability to gain an understanding of Medicaid - one of the largest United States healthcare payers and a continually growing industry with many job opportunities.
