Bridgemont’s sustainability program is organized around nine priorities, called the Nine Opportunities for Sustainability. Each of the “9 Opps” has a team that plans and implements projects to achieve sustainability goals, including recycling, energy conservation, waste reduction, community engagement, and health and wellness.

The campus Sustainability Council consists of Bridgemont faculty, staff, and students that support the work of the Opps Teams. The Sustainability Council meets three times per semester; meetings are a time for all Opps Team members to join together with the wider campus community to share updates, recruit project volunteers, and get ideas and inspiration.

Progress is measured using quantitative sustainability metrics, such as kilowatt hours (kwh) of electricity consumed, gallons of water consumed, volunteer hours donated, miles walked, pints of blood donated, short tons of waste sent to landfill, and pounds of paper consumed. Bridgemont faculty and staff can click here to view graphs of sustainability data. Opps Team Leaders can click here to enter sustainability data in the metrics tracking system.
