Securing an Off-Campus Proctor, Scheduling & Taking a Test
If you are unable to come to a Bridgemont Community and Technical College campus to take your test, you must locate a professional person, preferably within the college or university system, in your local area that is willing to proctor a test for you. To do this, follow the steps below.
To Secure an Off-Campus Proctor:
  • Notify your instructor that you cannot make it to campus and that you will be looking for an off-campus proctor.
  • After locating an off-campus proctor, complete the required approval process two weeks prior to the test date.
  • Have the off-campus proctor fill out and sign the top portion of the “Off-Campus Proctor Authorization Form.”
  • Fill out the bottom portion (Instructor and Student Information).
  • Fax or e-mail it to the number/location on the form for your instructor’s approval.
  • Print and give the Directions for Proctors document to your proctor.
  • Follow-up with your instructor to be sure s/he has received the form and approved the proctor.
To Schedule Your Test with an Off-Campus Proctor:
  • Ask your off-campus proctor how they would prefer you make an appointment (e-mail, phone, fax).
  • Schedule a testing appointment with the proctor as soon as your instructor has approved him/her (at least three business days in advance of the test date).
  • Notify your instructor that an appointment has been scheduled for the test (include the date/time).  S/he will send the password (or written test) and any special instructions to the off-campus proctor.
  • Read the Student Rules & Proctor Verification Form to be aware of our testing rules and to know what is expected of you.
  • Be sure to keep your appointment with the off-campus proctor (don’t forget your photo ID).  Any fees associated with testing off-campus are your responsibility.
On the Test Day at the Off-Campus Location:
  • Verify directions to the testing site before your first appointment.
  • Check in with the off-campus testing proctor AND show them your photo ID.
  • The off-campus proctor will take you to a testing station.
  • If exam is online, go to the Bridgemont home page, click on Online Education under Quick Links and log into your online course & click on Quizzes.  Open the proper test.
  • The proctor will type in the test password for you.
  • Read and sign the Student Rules & Proctor Verification Form that explains our testing rules.
After completion of your test, log out of the testing site and give the signed form back to the off-campus proctor.  The proctor will fill out the bottom portion of the form that verifies who you are and that you followed all the rules and will return it (and paper exam, if applicable) to your instructor.
