According to S-STEM requirements and BCTC’s program goals, to be eligible for an S-STEM scholarship, students must:

(1) be citizens or nationals of the United States, aliens admitted as refugees, or aliens lawfully admitted for permanent residence; 

(2) have documented financial need based on FAFSA information;

(3) have an ACT composite score of at least 19, as well as at least 19 in ACT Math and 18 in ACT English;

(4) complete an application form;

(5) if an assessment shows the need for developmental math, provide a letter of recommendation that states belief in academic talent from a teacher, school counselor, or employer;

(6) submit a personal essay describing their desire to enter the chosen field, as well as their background, goals, and personal expectations;

(7) enroll full-time in one of the STEM academic programs;

(8) have a high school GPA of at least 3.0 for incoming students, and have earned and maintain both an overall cumulative GPA and a cumulative GPA within the major of 3.0 (for continuing students);

(9) satisfactorily complete an interview with a member of the Administrative Committee (first-time applicants);

(10) have completed all developmental coursework prior to program entry; and

(11) commit to participating in the program and its activities.
